I was born in Illinois in 1965 but lived in Indiana from 1967 to 1988, where I attended Indiana University and received a B.A. in Geography in 1988. I then went to
The Ohio State University
for graduate school, receiving an M.A. in Geography in 1990 and a Ph.D. in Geography in 1994.
I began my appointment at Oklahoma State University in August, 1994, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1999. I am also the
Undergraduate Advisor and chair of the Undergraduate and Awards Committees. At the university level I serve on the General Education Advisory
Council (2000-2009), University Assessment Council (2004-2010), the General Education Assessment Committee (2005-2011), and the Academic Integrity Panel (2006-2008).
